ETHICS POLICY

For Authors:

The following articles constitute a violation of research ethics and should be avoided by the authors:

• Claiming others’ ideas or research as their own or using others’ ideas without proper attribution. 

• The data used by the author should not be fabricated or deliberately modified with the intent to make it more suitable for interpretation from the author’s point of view.

• Submitting a research paper that has already been published elsewhere.

The final judgement on whether a breach of research ethics has occurred will be made by the editorial board. The editorial board shall conduct the investigation with utmost impartiality and fairness. If a member of the editorial board has been found guilty of unfair assessment of an Ethics Policy breach, the Editor-in-Chief has the right to dismiss that member.

If the editorial board concludes that the Ethics Policy has been violated, any of the following measures may be taken:

• Immediate rejection of the submission

• Restriction from submitting papers to the YJIS for a period of up to five years.

• Notification of relevant funders or institutions (such as the author’s affiliated university or the Korea Research Foundation.

 

For Reviewers:

To maintain the integrity of the peer review process, reviewers must strictly adhere to ethical practices across five core areas: 

• Declaring conflicts of interest immediately to the editor (such as personal/professional relationships or financial stakes)

• Avoiding bias by rooting all evaluations strictly in textual evidence rather than author demographics

• Maintaining confidentiality, including a strict ban on uploading manuscripts to AI tools

• Ensuring quality and efficiency through constructive, evidence-based feedback

• Reporting misconduct (like plagiarism or data fabrication) directly to the editor
